GORILLA MUSIC GROUP WELCOMES FRANCIS DARSHAN

World | Jazz | Folk

The founding members of The Garland Band are the harpist and composer Ferenc Honyecz, who won the International Special Prize of London Classical Music in 2024, and the world-famous Moroccan-born percussionist Rhani Krija. "It is an honor for me that we have been working together in our joint formation since 2015."

(Ferenc Honyecz). Was born in 1969 in Budapest, Hungary. As a relative of world star pianist Annie Fischer, every child in the family learns to play the piano, so at the age of 7 he studies in the children's choir and the piano department of the art elementary school. He develops his skills on other instruments and at the age of 18 he plays the acoustic guitar and the bass guitar excellently.Since 1987, he has been working as an instrumentalist and producer in domestic and international music projects. He has appeared as a musical director and instrumentalist on countless studio albums, concerts and tours. Continuous development, learning and self-improvement have always been very important to him, so he continued his music studies in 2000 and started playing Irish/Celtic and pedal harp at the Antal Molnár Music School in Budapest.

In 2014, he composed his own, unique songs for Hungarian harps, which were made exclusively for him. He uses his instruments in unique tunings to achieve the special sound of the songs. In 2015, he was invited to the harp festival held in Dinan, France, and later that year he founded The Garland Band with his international percussion musician and friend, Rhani Krija (Sting, Dominik Miller band).Preparations for the recording of The Garland Band's studio album will begin in the spring of 2015. Rhani Krija comes to Hungary for the band's studio recording, and together they record their first debut CD entitled "My Infinity". The band has been performing as a trio since 2015. Their concerts are accompanied by special attention.

After the audience success of our 2017-19 world music concerts, I thought that one of the defining trends of our next CD and concert programs would be Carpathian, Moldavian, Csángó and Hungarian folk songs from the collections as new pieces of music. In addition to modern instruments, the Irish/Celtic harp, percussion and acoustic guitar are more prominent. In addition to their own compositions and arrangements of folk songs, as a sign of their respect for the work of the iconic Sting, they also prepared several arrangements for the new album and concert programs.
